Pua Mission Trip – Dec 2022
We thank God for the fruitful trip that the team had at Pua, Thailand this December. It's such a joy and privilege to be able to participate in God's work in this manner.
By the grace of God, the team had a total of 12 volunteers from GBC this time. A close friend of Megan Collins, Megan Grondahl, joined the team as guest.

While waiting for the second group to arrive, Mak and Narola were gracious enough to take the first group on a tour of the highlands at Doi Phu Kha National Park and Baan Sakad, as well as visit the House of Hope in Thawangpha, another boarding facility for Hmong students operating under the banner of The Firm Foundation. They also visited an American missionary couple, David and Frances Jordan, at their home in Chiang Klang district. Both had worked under the New Tribes Mission (NTM) amongst the Prai tribe, the outcome of which was the first printing of a Prai language Bible.
A total of 31 students attended this latest iteration of the camp. By the end of it (extended due to a fortuitous public holiday), each student had as many as 7 classes to learn from their teachers.
On Sunday morning, Meei Fang and Samuel Ho visited a Hmong village at Maesanan in the mountains and worshipped with the locals at a church there, a long-standing practice whenever the team have new volunteers coming with them.
Meanwhile, Kim Song gave God’s Word from Luke 1:13-17. He related to the kids how he had always wanted to be a top runner when at school. When he grew older, he learnt from the life of John the Baptist that Christ must be greater, and he must be less. John’s attitude encouraged him not to be obsessed with being No. 1 or be self-centred but to be obedient to God always and do His will to bear witness about the Light who is Christ.
One highlight of this camp was when the team took the students to the Walking Street Night Market for some light local snacks. This was akin to an outdoor English class and the kids enjoyed the experience very much. It was a perfect setting for more bonding between teachers and students.
At the conclusion of the camp, the team gave each student an early Christmas gift from GBC in the form of a vacuum water bottle. Emily Seck had lovingly inscribed a Bible verse on every tag that was given away with the bottles. The kids received them excitedly. They should find them useful in school.
We praise God for His provisions and protection throughout the journey and during the camp. We were humbled by His love and faithfulness and the many small spiritual lessons we learned while doing His mighty work amongst the kids. Most of all, we thank God for the wonderful and precious fellowship that we got to experience with the kids, the house parents, Mak and Narola and with members of the team. We should continue to uphold all at KH in prayers, especially for God’s strength and grace to be with Mak and Narola always. Pray also for God’s healing for the seven at KH who are currently infected with COVID-19, and that the virus will not infect more residents at the home.
