Reformation Concert 2024
GBC will hold our fifth (and final) Reformation Concert this year! The concert will be held on on 26 October 2024 at 8pm in our Sanctuary. We will also participate in Sunday worship on 27 October 2024 at 9am.
What and why do we have this thing called a "Reformation Concert"?
We want to teach GBC members and visitors about Reformation doctrine that was lost and recovered for Protestants, and how these truths are our reason for congregational singing and rejoicing. These Reformation doctrines include:
how the Scripture is our sole and final authority,
how justification by faith alone is won in Christ alone by God's grace alone,
and all this to the glory of God alone.
Since 2014, we have held four concerts that are "evangelistic" in the sense that they rally our church to proclaim the Gospel in song. In 2014, we celebrated "The Five Solas" of the Reformation in our pre-renovation building.
In 2016 during our church rebuilding, we had "Tell Me The Story of Jesus", and "Grace That Sings" from the songs inspired by Psalms in our new sanctuary in 2018.
After the pandemic in 2022, we had "Faith Alone: Songs from Galatians".
The 2024 concert theme is "Soli Deo Gloria" or "glory to God alone" and will coincide with our church's pulpit ministry in Isaiah.
How can you participate? We are looking for singers and musicians of all ability levels to join the choir and orchestra. Rehearsals will be on Sundays, from 1.30 to 3.30pm. The practice dates are as follows:
4 and 18 August
1, 15 and 29 September
6, 13 and 20 October
If you’re unable to attend all of the sessions, but can commit to most of it, do join us too! Through this, we hope to gather the church to sing and proclaim wonderful truths about our glorious God.
