Installation of Elders (October 2023)
At our 8 October 2023 service, we installed our new elders Jeremy Lee and Beh Soo Hee. At our recent English Congregational Meeting, the members of GBC have recognised Jeremy Lee to serve as a staff elder, specifically, Pastor for Family Ministry and Beh Soo Hee to serve as an elder.
We thank God for providing for our church in this way. God has called and raised these men who have chosen to obey and be faithful to His calling. Let us continue to keep these men, and their families in prayer.
All our elders have to affirm ten statements in their vows, which are professed upon installation. These statements pertain to their faith and their calling. Our elders confessed these before the congregation, but the church too, had a chance to respond.
There are two vows that the church professes at each elder installation:
"Do you, the members of Grace Baptist Church, acknowledge and publicly receive these men as elders, as a gift of Christ to this church?"
"Will you love them and pray for them in their ministry, and work together with them humbly and cheerfully, that by the grace of God we may accomplish the mission of the church, giving the elders all due honour and support in their leadership to which the Lord has called them, to the glory of God?"
During the service, Elder Lup Meng also led the church to commit these men in prayer. As these men seek to obey God and lead according to the strength that God supplies, let us continue to uphold them in prayer. a
As a church too, let us also continue to obey Hebrews 13:17, which states: "Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy." If you see these elders around, stop, say hi, and also ask them how we can be praying for them!
